We started this because too many families end up with the wrong dog, not through carelessness, but because the advice on offer is shallow. A quick tick-box tool on a pet retailer's site cannot tell you whether a working cocker will cope with a small London flat, or whether the breed you've fallen for carries health or temperament risks you haven't yet fully weighed.
What people actually need is the conversation they'd have with a knowledgeable friend, someone who'll ask about your evenings, your children, your last dog, and what you couldn't bear. Then say honestly what fits, what doesn't, and where to find a breeder worth trusting.
That conversation used to be the preserve of people who happened to know the right person. We're trying to make it available to everyone choosing a puppy in the UK.
